Carol's Chaise Longue & Cubed Bookcase

Oh what joy - the base of the Chaise Longue Kit is large enough to accommodate a bookcase so you can combine two lovely CKC Intrigues in one! Before making the Chaise as per the instructions, I made a template for the relevant pieces which I cut out and covered in a pink fabric. I used a thin piece of banana paper for the seat area to give a bit of padding. Once the Chaise was assembled, I stuck the fabric panels on the MDF and then trimmed with a thin gold braid.

The cute little table was just begging for a vase of flowers and the pink roses are made from crepe paper using the CKC ruffle petal die set and the rose leaf die set. The cup, saucer and spoon which come with the Intrigue are easy to paint or colour but I chose to edge the rim in gold – which also matches the luxurious box of chocolates made using the cereal pack die. Adding nail varnish bottles (beads), fluffy slippers (felt and pipe cleaners) and an emery board (a sliver of kraft card cut to shape) helps gives an idea of relaxation.

The cubed bookcase fitted beautifully together and the little gold frame that comes with it is a lovely way of personalising the display as you could add a favourite photo if you wished.

I added a potted fern to the final scene, also made with a CKC die and which I think gives just the right amount of colour to the area behind the chaise longue, now all I need is time to recreate this in “big size” so that, like the CoolKat here, I can have a little snooze in the middle of the afternoon!!
