It will be an all day course running from 9.30 until 5.30pm and the cost will include a lunch and all cups of tea/coffee/squash aswell as the kit and a set of papers to cover it with. Please visit the page on the website for the directions and to book https://www.coolkatzcraft.com/events-1/introduction-to-album-making-day
Here is an example of the album that you will be making.
This kit (above) has been made with the Graphic 45 Imagine Collection.
Below: Maggie has used two of the coordinating blue papers to do this two page spread. She has used a die to achieve the scalloped pocket at the bottom of both pages - shown here just above the word 'Imagine.'
These are the front and back of the album. Maggie has put in a sections where the owner of this book can fit pieces of memorabilia, photos or tickets etc. She has used the same paper on the first page, for the spine, and the flaps on both pages showing how planning the book is vital so that you have enough of each paper.
Another double page spread using coordinating papers
This page has been cut either with a die or you could use a craft knife to cut the slits and a punch at both ends before it is stuck into place. Be careful when sticking in your page that you leave room underneath the openings without glue for the pieces of ephemera to be put in.
This template can be used for cutting your decorative paper for the Roll-top box. If it is printed off and cut out it should be smaller than the box side. Remember to reverse it as each side will be different. If you visit https://www.coolkatzcraft.com/shop and you will find a FREE pdf to download which is the correct size.
This lovely album is the Foldover Album which in this case has been covered in Graphic 45 papers from their Imagination Collection.
You can buy this kit in the shop including all of the pre-cut greyboard, black/cream card, magnets and full instructions. You can also see all of the other items including some new papers by Craft Consortium https://www.coolkatzcraft.com/shop
This picture shows that pages can be made to open vertically aswell as horizontally. Once again Maggie has used the same backing papers to maintain the feeling that all three of these pages belong together.
Maggie has used the same paper for the front and back inside covers and made it all match so that it gives a rich and well thought out lining to the book. If you were using other papers, as long as the overall look is the same you could layer it or put in pockets or frames.
For this example the eye is directed to the centre by placing the lovely large image of the lady from the front cover across both...
It is a Roll-top box with an album which will be featured on TV tomorrow when Maggie is on Hochanda at 10am and 2pm. The programme will be about the latest Kaisercraft products one of which is the Deep Sea Paper Collection which she has used here. It has rich blues and greens and the star of the show is a large turtle - you could say that he is 'turtley awesome' I am in love with these papers. The Blue Tape has been used here and that is now available in our shop at https://www.coolkatzcraft.com/shop
This Album has been covered with the papers from Graphic 45 called The Artisan Collection. I thought that you might like to see inside of this lovely 8" X 8" album.
Although Maggie clearly likes to use Graphic 45 there are many papers out there which can be used to create a 'story' in your books. Please take a look at our shop - we are beginning to get a few in. You can find it here https://www.coolkatzcraft.com/shop or by going to SHOP on the website.
The papers can lend themselves to being cut up to produce pockets. In these two pictures the background paper that has been used with the buildings really makes the whole page 'pop!'
The black that has been chosen for the base colour of this book also helps to show the papers at their best. Aswell as the black, cream is also available for baby books, holiday and wedding books.
Here you can see that Maggie has used a two-page spread of the same papers for impact. There are 3 horizontal pockets in each page, plenty for all...
